Keeping Me In Stitches!
This is the current love of my life along with embroidery. I love taking pieces of fabric and making an interesting item or piece of clothing. I started sewing years ago, when I made all the curtains in my house. I couldn’t afford to buy curtains from a store, not even Wal-mart. However, Wal-mart usually had fabric on sale for $1.00 a yard. I bought 4 yards of fabric for each window and made the curtains myself. I also made the pillows of various sizes from remnant and fat quarters. They work for what I needed them for and am just now, over seven years later, thinking of making new ones with nicer fabric.
Now, I have a better machine that also embroiders and I have taken some classes to up my skills. I have started making bags, purses and other accessories. I started out making Christmas gifts for my friends and family last year and found that I ended up making more items than I needed. I have given some of the extras I made as Birthday gifts, but I haven’t stopped sewing either, so I have a few items left. I have been taking pictures of them and offering them for sale in my Artfire shop.
As it is June, I am starting to gear up for Christmas again. I will be blogging about a few of the gifts I am working on, though I will not be saying for whom I am making them. There are also a few pieces that I am making exclusively for myself and I will blog about them as well.
Here are some of the things that I have sewn:
Reversible Top
There’s Spiders, Ewww! Zipper Pouch
Pi Drawstring Pouch
I’ll Give You the Moon Drawstring Pouch
